main bearing cap issues
well sometimes it better to spend alittle money and make sure your block is okay VS. put it together and waste the money when it falls apart. im not gonna say it has to be checked, but it could save you money in the long run.
Yeah. I guess I should have quoted the ARP hardware on a 400 rwhp motor. That is what I was questioning. I can tell from the bearing wear there are no out-of-round caps. There were no areas that looked "high" that wore hard and no shiny areas. This was a last minute type of thing I caught. Heads are torqued, valvetrain is on, etc. I'm not going back to bare block. The contamination was the only reason for the change out. All rod bearings looked great. All mains had the aluminum particulate contamination. It was well worth my time and money to change them all.
