Default LS1 = bad rings....

I have a 2000 TA and the rings in number one piston are going out, i have lost compression.. So i think i have to bore it because the cylinder walls are scraped up most likely. I am pulling the engine out next week probably. But i was just wondering if anybody had advice on a 383 build? Do i need to change the heads if i bore and stroke it? Right now i want to go with all forged internals probly eagle and mahle brands and then a comp valvetrain setup. Is there anything else i need to worry about?
