Default Best heads for Torquer v.3

Ive been doing a lot a research on the site, and im ready to buy a H/C kit. I really like the Torquer v.3 cam not too big and not too small but not sure which heads i want to match up with them. From what ive read the 2.5 ls6 from PRC seems to be a real good match-up for these. Budget of 2200$
I will eventuall match it up with a Fast 90/90 but not just yet.
I want to build the car right and i have always heard of people mis-matching H/C combos with the cam being too big for the application or what not, and the car not performing right.

I have built my car too do the rear end and suspension, then tranny and clutch first, that-way the car will handle everything i throw at it.

I want something that will be in the range of 450 rwhp for a H/C combo, plus i will be spraying a 150 wet shot on it too.

The car is barely driven mostly a weekend type car and goes to the track 6-10 times a year.

So what are people opinions?

The best thing you can do is buy the best heads your budget will allow, then match the cam to your heads.I see posts like this all the time where people pick a cam and want to know what the best heads for it are.The best heads for any cam are the best heads on the market.. AFR,ETP,and Trickflow. If they are out of your budget then get something like the prc ls6 heads.Airflow inductions has some nice heads too which are also a little less money.Whichever heads you buy, just mill them for your desired compression based on your cam.But dont think one set of heads may be better then another set because of the cam you want.People who want a real nice setup will actually buy all there other parts, intake, heads, gears, exhaust, and converter if an A4,and then buy the cam last to match all the other parts, and to match there specific goals, like rpm range,Street setup, track only??hope this helps
If you want to make it easier on yourself,Pat G can spec you a nice cam after you decide on what heads you want,A custom cam will probably perform better then any off the shelf grind, and a custom cam will also include the new lobe designs from comp, which are something to take advantage of.

ive got the PRC 2.5 5.3 liter heads on that cam and it performs great. However, if i had a $2200 budget when picking heads out i definately would have gone with either AFR or TFS. those heads are just that much better. so if i were you id jump on the AFR 205's and mabye mill them down a little

with only 2200 the ls6 or 5.2 heads are the way to go. I like the ls6 heads myself, but I am not even going ot start another thread about comparing the two.

get a custom cam or something proven like a TV3. if you go with the TV3 call up Texas speed and see what heads they reccommend- probably their 5.3's. I would try to get your compression around 11.3- 11.5. You will like the results.

I have a nice set up for me, makes great power down low- heads and compression, and works pretty dam well up top- cam. I mainly wanted a street car that can go to the track instead of making an all out track car.

How well will the tv3 with ls6 heads work with a 150 shot?

I do really like the AFR heads but im trying to get a package for 2200$. LS6 AFR heads alone are starting around 2200$.

Also did look at the AFR 225's over the 205's. What kind of power increase would there be between the 2 and what power would there be over the PRC's all of them with the Torquer v.3
Keep in mind this will all be with a 150 wet shot too.

i would go with the v3 and the 5.3 heads and with the money left over you can put towards the fast your wanting to get later on down the road the h/c/i will hit the 450rwhp your looking for and will be killer with the shot of nitrous

So which heads would be better for spray AFR's or PRC's. I think i am leaning towards the AFR and just cough up the extra money to match it up with the toequer v.3 or which would be a better nitrous cam?

v3 should work well with nitrous and if you have the money for afr's i would go with them over the prc's but if you have not bout any of this stuff i'd get it all custom spec's instead of buying of the self you wont be disappointed

I actually brought up spray when talking to Jon at TSP about their cams. he siad that the TQRIII was actually a good cam for spray. and if you search around in the nitrous forum, there is one guy in there who has that cam and made some AWESOME numbers cam-only through spray.

As far as the heads, since nitrous and compression are great together, id go with the 205's. the 225s are great, but i would probably say that you need a few more cubes to get the true benefit of those. so id get the 205's and mill them down a bit. that setup with spray, id be jealous

Talk to TSP they will get you right. I run that cam and am getting ready to spray a 150 shot. I sure hope it does ok with spay. I don't think you need a N20 cam unless you are spraying a large shot but I could be wrong. I would think that the 5.3, 2.5 with the recessed valves would be the way to go.

the torquer will work good with spray, but a cam that is customized to your setup and oriented for a 150 shot will work AWESOME.

Don't forget the PRC 215 heads! A customer just made 480rwhp with a mildy ported Fast 90 intake & the PRC 215 heads on a Torquer 3 car in North Carolina!!

The PRC Stage 2.5 heads will work really well also, but the smaller chambers from the 215 heads really make great power across the board!!
