Good thinking Don, but Fel Pro must offer race style composition gaskets. I will look into this and report.

For what reasons would you want to stay away from the multi-layer steel gaskets?

I use a 1041 Felpro (big bore) witout any problem. Unlike a stock gasket it has a fire ring and works well with nitrous. More important is to use a ARP head stud or bolt and torque cycle them several times before final installation.
