My old '02 Z28 went 7.4xs with a F13, 3K stall, long tubes/true duals and 2.73 gears.

Yes it clears but it's always a good idea to check the clearance

ive got an f14 in my SS (three years ago) and in the begining i was second guessing myself but after asking around ALOT the general consensus was that there both gonna be about the same on the street. i swapped from a comp cams 230 232 to the f14 with the same lsa and the seat of the pants difference was incredible even though the dyno numbers wernt that far apart because i didnt change the tune.
i dont think you can go wrong with either but if it were me id get the f14 high lift.

Why are they advising against it? Either way both the regular and high lift versions are good choices.

why are your friends saying you dont need it? what is there about the high lift cams that they think you dont need?
the high lift makes more power than the standard lift cam with the same driveablity.
what is the goal your trying to achieve with this cam swap?

I think the dual springs they use are rated to .660, and if so you will be fine. Just double check with whoever set up the heads.
