Default f13 or f14

ok, ordering TSP 5.3 liter st.2.5 heads next week, and am not sure on what cam to get, the f13 or the f14. My freind is recommending to me that i get the f13. i am an A4 convertable, with an SS4000, 3.90s, full-exhaust and a stock ls6 intake. those are the big mods. im wanting solid mid 11s, maybe even low 11s. Is this cam to much for the heads? I have a tendancy to go bigger than what is recommended and i want a nasty street car, cause i dont drive it much. maybe twice a week. People told me to get a 3600 stall so i went 4000, they said do 3.73s so i went 3.90s, but with the cam i dont want to do the same thing and have a bad set-up, so i would be more reluctant to follow that trend. I want to be over 400 or atleast close to it. what kind of power and performance difference is thier? if you havent noticed, i have never done a cam before.

I have a full wieght A4 with an F13 in front of a 3000 stall. Mind you, mine is not setup for drag racing only, as I road race and autocross as well hence the tighter converter. Having said that, with the converter you plan for (at least 3600) and the gears, the F13 should go mid 11s. Mine went 12 flat at 115, had I put in a 4000 stall it would have gone mid 11s. You can't go wrong with either cam, nor will you see a huge difference from one over the other.

People run the MS3/4 with those heads and make great power, and those cams are bigger then the F13/4. So no, the cams are not too big for those heads.

alright, well just looked up the MS3. Healthy size, especially compared to the f14. Also saw in another thread that the 5.3 heads have reccessed valves just for the MS3.

I would opt for the F14. I had one in my Z06 with the stock 243s and it put down 423 rwhp and 408 rwtq. When I added a set of Dart 205s my power jumped to 452 rwhp and 423 rwtq. The car solid mid 11s all day long. With the stock heads I was running 11.7 and 11.6 consistently.

Do the FM13. I've made better power with it than the 14, and the driveability is perfect with a good tune. Will also be easier on the valve springs than the 14 for daily driving.

Alright, well looks like ill take another look at the f13. My buddy on here who recommended it(Raise) will be very happy witht that. He is definatly more of a small cam guy, doesent want me to fall into the "Bigger is Better" group. OK, another thing though, if i dont drive the car daily maybe onece a week to work and on the weekends, and i get good dual springs, i shouldnt have to worry to much about the springs on the f14 right? I am also curious as too why so many people say they make better power with the f13 vs the 14? Wouldnt it all be in the tune?
