Default How is the condition of this cam? *Pics inside*

im in the middle of my cam swap right now. all i have to do is pull the old one and put this one in but first i want to make sure this one is okay to use. a couple of the lobes look like the second one from the left. i bought this cam used from a member here. this is my first cam swap and i want to make sure this cam is still ok before i put it in. i need your guys opinions and expert advice please. should i use this cam or get a new one? Thanks in advance!

When you rub your fingers on the lobes does it feel rough or gouged down ?

Looks like normal wear really , compare it to your stock one and go from there .
My stock cam looked similar to that on every lobe when I removed it , just figured it was normal wear from the lifters . Only was visual marks nothing could be felt .

Hard to tell from the pics. I'd go by feel as well--should be at least as smooth as surrounding areas with no pittting, material transfer, gouging, etc. If that is the case, then normal wear.

Does not look bad in pics, but pics can be decieving. You can always have teh cam cleaned up. A LONG TIME AGO, when I first started running solid rollers, and had a hard time with rocer arms backing off, I ate up cam lobes on a pretty regular basis. Rocker arm would loosen up, allow the lifter to hammer away at the cam lobe. I wwould pop the cam out, send it off to Comp (whose cam I was running all those years ago)) and they would charge me like $50 to fix the lobe(s) Obviously, since then, I have learned to keep rocker arms adjusted properly

try some emery cloth on it and see if it smooths out. If it was a flat tappet cam I would say trash it but a roller you may be able to just polish it and go with it. Hope it works out for you
