Storing the car for a year, please help... I live in Houston Texas but Im leaving for a while and Im gonna store my 2000 C5 Vette, Im wondering the proper procedure in doing this so I wont hurt anything. Can you guys help, thanks....

just remember to change the fuel filter hen you get ready to crank it back up after a year.

i would get it down to about a quarter tank, add some stabil, then drain it. this will keep the residual fuel from varnishing in the tank. it might go stale, but that's not that big of a problem, seeing how little there will be left.

if you have a high lift cam I would back the rockers off loosen all of them that way you won't have a spring compressed for a long period of time also recommend go ahead and change the oil. Or a better Idea just throw me those keys that way I can go start it every once in awhile and keep it clean LOL

i store my c5 every year for 4-6 months. Stabil will work fine for this time period, my biggest fear is the battery leaking and destoying the sesitive electrical components below it, i generally store my battery in a warm dry place off the ground. The aluminum block is prone to oxidation and the oil probably should be changed before you drive it again. i have never had a problem with the fuel varnishing in six months. i know that the purpose of the stabil is to prevent that and i believe it works. For the effort involved in draining the tanks i would assume to just take the risk, its almost the same amount of work draining the tanks prior to storing as it is after, and i really dont think youll have a problem
Ive had fuel last over 18 months and no issues when using STABIL. Just add some stabil and run it for about 30 mins to get it through the system. Disconnect and remove the battery. And change the oil before you start it again. No need to change before.
