Default lifter lock tool specs

I have been doing a lot of reasearch on the cam swpa without removing intake and ran accross the lifter lock tool. Seems so simple and baffles me to why anyone would pay over 100 bux for it. I see some people have been using homemade tools to replace via magnets and what not through the pushrod access.

Anyone know the size of rod to slide through the front of the block?

Sorry if this is a repost, I have searched, but came up empty handed on specs

5/16 rod, and you would have to pull the heads to get to the lifters not the intake.
