head gasket i got a new set of gm head gaskets part number 12498544 i got them in a kit but according to the internet they are for 2002- 2004 vehicles. but i have a 99 firebird. will they fit.
I think the difference in 02-04 were that there were the same head bolt lengths where as in the other years there were i think 4 head bolts that were shorter than the rest.
I'm not sure of any differences that would cause you not to be able to use these head gaskets. All of the heads can be swapped from 97-present minus the L92 and LS7 provided you get the correct bore gasket.

What he said. 97-98 Heads had a notch in them requiring notched head gaskets. 99+ Head gaskets are basically the same with the diff being you can buy a graphite head gasket(.056), or the newer GM MLS gasket(.060).

Not to burst your bubble, but only the 806 heads(97-98) had the notch and require a special gasket. the 853,241,243 heads do NOT.

you like to be a piece of work huh, I was searching and they said earlier heads had a notch and claim you need head gasket for it, I have a newer block and have ported 806 heads from MTI. My simple question is do I need head gaskets for a 98 ls1 instead of a 00 LS1...I never would of guessed that a ls1 head will fit a ls1 .... I thought they fit a 2.2 ecotec.
