Default little help with ls6 cam

been in the lt1 scene too long...this is my first time working on my ls1...Plan on doing a 02+ ls6 cam when spring comes, so far I have some ls6 valve springs, plan on getting a ls2 timing chain, ls6 oil pump, ls7 lifters, new lifter trays??, and a hardend pushrod...I have heard on the ls1 with an ls6 cam you will need a 7.425" rod, can anyone confirm this to be correct. also will a tune be needed? and would the stock injector work ok...so far this is all I am thinking right now, if anyone can throw out any suggestions in there that would be awsome...Thanks

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but the LS6 cam does have a smaller base circle which would require a longer pushrod. The LS6 heads use a longer valve stem instead. I have heard of people running the 7.400's without a problem though. At any rate, it doesn't take much to check it while you've got everything apart. As far as the injectors and tune goes, the injectors will be fine and a tune is always a good idea. I swapped a LS6 long block into my car a few years ago, the only change I made was a mailorder tune and the car went 12.55 @ 111 on stock Goodyear Eagles with 2.73's, so needless to say I was pretty happy. Good luck with your swap.

7.425" pushrods are what you need for the LS6 cam - stock injectors should work fine, and a tune will get the most out of it (especially if you can just raise the rev limiter to 6500), but isn't as necessary as it would be with a larger cam.

Yes they are, especially with cats! Although I'm running one of the quietest cat backs out there as well.

7.4 Pushrods ARE fine, dont spend 100.00 for 0.025" more preload on the lifters. Car will pull hard to 63-6400 and will sound and idle like stock. Stock rev limeter on ,ime is at 6300 bacause that is where is starts fo dye out on me so there was no need to push it any farther. Good luck

When I measured, it came out to 7.425"...but I have a feeling the stock length pushrods would be just fine given the stock lifters' tolerance to preload. Either way, I would still run hardened pushrods with any cam instead of the stockers...

SLP Dual/Dual and no, it's not quieter than stock. Not too far off at idle though!

So with mac mid tube headers and a stock muffler will it sound close to stock at all?
