Im currently looking into a cam with 219I-228E dur, 525 lift on the intake and the exhaust with a 112lsa. I have Lt's, ported tb, custom true dual exhaust, a4 with 373's out back. My car is a DD and sees th track about every other week. What does everyone think? good cam? Will this cam give me a somewhat choppy idle? Will it give me decent power? Im still learning about cam setups. From what i can tell, i think this will serve the purposes im looking for. Thanks for any input you guys may have.

Oh you mean a 219/228-525/525@112LSA. Why such a long split on the intake and exhaust? Why not go with something more like a 228/228-525/525@110LSA, or a 228/230-565/565@112LSA? Your cam would make ok power and would have an almost stock like idle. Why go through all that work to replace the cam and leave so much power on the table? There are much better street cams then the one you posted why leave anything behind?

 

A hot cam does not have stock idle. They actually sound pretty good but I agree if you are gonna do it go a littler bigger. The trade off is valve spring life. The Hot cam has a low lift and mild intensity lobes so your springs wear very well. Something like a TR 224 will give you more power for sure but with a higher intensity lobe you will have to change your springs more often.

 

Well, I was looking into the cam and spring kit because i can get it for $376 (gm employee). I plan on keeping my car a cam only car, and honestly its easier and cheaper to go with gmpp's. Unless i can get my parts department to dip into the aftermarket this is what easiest for me. I can bill parts to my account at work and have a better chance of the wife not finding out?

 

I don't think I said it would have a stock idle!! I said an almost stock idle meaning it's not going to hit like my car does or any car with a bigger cam. Yes you can tell it has a cam in it but to me they sound ALMOST STOCK.. Thanks for correcting me!!
