Question Do I have to rebuild????

Ok guys I have been driving my car as a DD for the past several years. It has about 140K miles on it. The motor runs and sounds great. It doesn't use or burn any oil. Well other then normal, maybe 1/2 quart in 3000 miles. I have always run synthetic and the motor seems solid. My question is now that I have a new car and this one is just going to be for fun can I put heads and a cam in it the way it is? Do you think it will be fine, or will I be pulling the whole thing shortly down the road to have it rebuilt? Do you have to rebuild with this kind of milage before heads and cam? Thanks

By the way I'm thinking of 243's and a medium cam if that helps any.

I don't think you would. If the motor is still running strong and not burning any oil, it shouldn't be a problem. I have seen more than a few guys spraying the **** out of their cars on here with 150k+ and they claim they are still going strong.

Thanks for the input guys. That's what I was hoping. I don't want to have to pull the whole motor if I can get out of it, and it seems a shame to tear apart a motor that runs well. Thanks

mine has 138k, and is getting 243's and a decent sized cam installed within the next few wks. I was worried about the same things as you until i researched a little on here...there are ALOT of people with 150k+ miles that have h/c, and spin to 7k rpms
