347 forged is this a good investment
bigger cubes=better heads=better manifold=more fuel=$$$$$$$$$
I wish I would have gone bigger cubes simply to have a tamer street setup with more power. All the peripheral stuff would have broke me!

well sounds like their cars are not set-up the way they need to be. Or they dont have a good combination for what they got. My car i driven to the track with all the options (AC, power-steering, etc...) and runs 9's all day with no problems.
But to each is own...

You can do what I am doing. I have a iron 408 getting built now, going to reuse my PRC 5.3 heads and MS3 for now which will make 470+whp with alot more torque than normal. The MS3 is a mild aggresive cam in a 408 technically instead of being all topend power like it is in a 347. It will make just as much horsepower as a forged 347 but more torque, but now I have the option to use ported L92 heads with a nitrous spec cam. No LS1/LS2/LS6 head can close remotely close to them, that then do a staged shot and start looking at 875whp(408ci) instead of 750whp(347ci) on the bottle. Not trying to sound like a dyno queen but you need a certain amount of power to run certain times
There is no replacement for displacement, no one can argue with that.
There is no replacement for displacement, no one can argue with that. If you stick with a 347 and rebuild it wouldn't you be able to get dished pistons, which would allow you to bump up the compression and run a bigger cam without worrying about PTV which would make more power. Perhaps a 383 would make a good compromise...
Your logic is a little off, you can go ahead and kill that 408 but all he has to do is throw a kit on him self and then your

Not Necessarily. Depends on the builds of the motors. Many times my 347 has run as good as, if not better than 408 cars...
what i mean is its still an ls1 and alot of people underestimate ls1 know days cause everyone has 6.0 or 408
347 here, I built it bc I could use my stock crank and block. It was the cheapest route and I built it to be reliable so I could actually drive it and enjoy it for years to come. Its also been built to withstand a 400 shot but I'm only going with a 150 for now, bc around here I dont need much more than that.
If you want to go 383 then you have to buy a $1000 crank, thats what steered me away from that. With a 408, you've got crank, heads, block, and intake I knew I didn't want to go that deep.
Hell I may have $2500 in my motor if that I think I did pretty well.

I personally just did a forged 347. The positives of doing a 347 is you do not need to purchase a crankshaft and can use your stock crank which I have seen plenty of people at the shop pushing 800 hp and have never had a problem. I think with rods and pistons, rings I was right around 1100 dollars. I did this knowing that in the future I want to run boost. So, I did H/C at the same time. It is still a fast car just N/A. And, in the mean time I am running a 175 shot or 200 shot depending on the weekend and what bracket racing I am in. This way I know that my bottom end is safe, and I can spray the hell out of the car whenever I want. This way when I do get my D1SC or a F1 I am 100% ready to go and dont have to worry about tearing the motor down. IMO Forged in anyway is the only way to do it.

Quick question. L92's are the heads off of the new LS3 motors, correct? If they are dont you have to run an LS3 intake. Plus i was wondering would LS1 headers bolt up to a L92 head.

Eagle, Scat and Callies are all well under that
