I have used Motul in a lot of import applications and it seems to be very popular.
I agree with running 20W50, personally I like to Brad Penn due to the zinc content it seems to give better wear protection.
On a side note, I would refrain from switching between synthetic and non-synthetic oils. I am not 100% sure of the reasoning but a friend of mine that is a retired GM engineer indicated to me that he had seen this cause failures. I understand that it should be broken in on conventional oil, but I think this was more of a high mileage switch that he was seeing the issues with.

That's more for flat-tappet valvetrains. LSX engines use roller lifters and the zinc protection isn't needed. That's one of the reasons why it's getting harder to find oil with the sufficient ZDDP. Most engines today don't need it, but older engines do. I use Mobil 1 15w-50 in the silver cap in my Pontiac 455. It has the correct amount of ZDDP for flat-tappet lifters.

I run the Amsoil 0W-30 synthetic oil and the Amsoil EaO32 filter. The Four Ball Ware Test ASTM D4172 as tested by an independent lab 40 kg pressure @ 150*C,1800 rpm,for one hour duration indicated that the Amsoil product had the smallest ware scare diameter (mm) than any of the other products mentioned in this tread.

WOW. This is getting intense over some oil. But I did learn alot. It makes me think Im not running the right **** either. I have a basicly stock rebuilt ls6, carburated, with gm hi rpm lifters and asa cam(about to put it in the cam). I only turn 45-5000 rpm consistanly(it's in a jetboat.) I have been running good ol' valveoline 5w-30. Should I be running a better oil or weight? I have been puking alot of oil on long runs. I know I need to redo the pcv setup, but would the oil Im running cause it to puke?

horsepower or two is worth saving an engine.
i have a 4.3 chevy in my ski boat, and mercruiser recommends 15w40. same oil is also used in 305, 350, and new mercruiser 6.0 motors.

I run 3-4 HPDE's (8 open track days) a year with Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30. Max oil temps in the 280 - 285 range for 30 minutes at a time. According to my Dyson UOA's, the oil has had no problems protecting the engine.
I've used Redline 10w-40 under these same conditions and wear was worse than PP 10w-30. It was close between Redline 10w-30 and PP 10w-30, but PP performed better. Redline 10w-40 is too thick for all but the loosest clearance LSx engine. I'm not using an oil cooler, no need, and I use Amsoil EaO32 oil filters.

i used 5w30 mobile 1, ran about 5 track days, 3 passes each, none over 13psi of boost. my trans took out my trust bearing(long story), builder took apart my motor and said their was a lot of metal in the pan, more than just bearings. im not running M1 again. this was on a 370 iron block, 88mm turbo setup making about 800-900hp out of the motor. Clearances or what not, its just too thin and didnt offer the protection.
