Default 408 guys, couple questions...

I'm very seriously considering a LS 408 short block, I've got a few questions;

Any of them DDs?

What cams/injectors are you running?

Do I have to redo my fuel system? I mean, rails & pump?

What's better t-56 or A4 with this 408. My a4 is stock with a 3600 but have a t-56 available, complete swap.

Its not a track car, a few passes, yes. I want a relatively smooth idle, just enough to say there's something there. No spray.

I think this would be fun.

I'm far from an expert on the matter but I'll throw in what I can. DD depends on your cam choice, you can run a longer duration cam then you originally could with stock cubes. Fuel system depends on a few things but for a N/A build 42# SVO's will work fine but a new fuel pump may be a requirement, rails are fine. Trans. is preference in my opinion.

DD is no problem

42#s is average depends on your setup.

You'll need a good pump, rails will work.

Stock 4L60 probably won't last long. Either get a built auto or swap in the T56.

I have a couple of friends that Daily drive thire 408ci with low 250 duration cams its not that bad but all are M6 with great tune.
You need injectors and pump for sure you can run the stock rails though.

If this inst a track car then go with M6 For sure.

Wow guys thanks for the quick replies. I had no idea that many were running. Pump swap isn't so bad. I knew I'd have to go 42lbs minimum. I thought the t56 would be best. I didn't know I could run more duration. Another thing to consider...wow this just keeps adding up.

dd mine. all the time.

performabuilt lvl2, pt3600, 42#r's, and a MS3... very mild cam in this size motor and makes gobs of torque... its also in a 5000lb truck that just made a 12.84 pass on street tires, conservative tune and stock truck manifold.

dont look back
