cam specs

just wondering what kind of added power would i be looking at getting with this cam set up

218/228 .525/.525 112lsa

Hot cam? Maybe 20-30 rwhp But get long tubes and a lid first

low duration, really low lift.

hardly worth the effort unless you needed emissions friendly.

not really needing emissions friendly cam but just wondered. Its for sale really cheap just wondering if it would be worth the effort but i dont think it will be

Sounds like the GM Hot Cam....usually see folks put down about 380-400 rwhp with all the bolt-ons and the Hot Cam. It's easy to tune and is easy on valve springs.

unlikely to hit 400rwhp without some head work.

its not a horrible cam...but its pretty old lobe technology and a very conservative grind.

i wouldnt waste my time with that cam. thats what some consider a baby cam.

i dont see you gaining 30-40 hp from it tho.

The best advice you'll ever get is to make sure your camshaft selection matches your application. Without telling anyone what you want to achieve, it's pretty tough for anyone here to tell you that is a bad choice.

That cam with bolt-ons and some budget LS6 heads could make for a 400wrhp setup that drives like stock only with more power everywhere. Yes, other cams out there have a greater following and will make more power at higher engine speeds, but the choice still depends on what you are trying to do.

you'll regret it if you get that cam. i had the hotcam in an lt1 i had a few yrs ago and it was slow as *****. bolton lt1's would almost get me....and i had all the boltons. not worth the time/money for that swap. i wouldn't go anything smaller than a 224 cam
