FYI its not strictly from running hot. It runs hot because #7 tends to run lean because of the intake design the back cylinders receive more air than the front cylinders. So in definition yes it is running "hot" in that cylinder, but what destroyed it is detonation because it went lean in that cylinder.
If a cylinder runs lean it runs hot, more to the point the piston runs hot.
The steam tube modification comes from GMPP themselves who advise fitting them to quote .."improve cooling in cylinder number seven."
How many other ways is there to reason & say it?
