Default lift vs rocker ratio

How bout this one...

.591 lift with 1.7 rocker
.543 lift with 1.85 rocker = .591

both make the same gross lift.....

is there really a difference between them???

so when I do my experimental cam I can maybe get my 218 lobe with a .543 lift and get 1.85 rockers for them...or get .558 with 1.8 rockers??

is tere an advantage or disadvantage???

I will probably have a hard time getting them to grind me a 218 with .591 lift.

thoughts???
opinions???
technical discussion??

Default Re: lift vs rocker ratio

My question is what will the lower LOBE lift do to the ramp rates (have NO idea on this one)?

If the ramp rates stay the same (which I don't see how they would be), then .591 lift is .591 lift (no matter how you get it).

Now if you can get a faster ramp rate out of the "small lobe" cam and then put a high ratio rocker on it (thus amplifying the rate), you could stand to gain a good bit of hp (kind of like having a solid roller cam). But there again, will you get too high on the ramp rate (at the valve) and start to float your valves. Will that high "valve rate" cause too much pressure on the lifter and crush it. (once again...I have NO answers to the questions)
