Valve Cover Gasket.. Not Fitting Properly

Valve Cover Gasket.. Not Fitting Properly I took my valve covers off to paint them last sunday. I am putting them back on the car tomorrow.
I was just getting everything all in order and i went to put my OEM valve cover gaskets back on, but i end up with a little slack
Why are they not fitting on there before when i took them out?
Anyone have any ideas?

Haha, Ive had to deal with this over and over again. The gasket seems too big to ever fit back in the valve cover. Line up the three humps in the valve cover and make up for the extra in the side thats straight.
As long as its not cut or frayed, it will fit back in with a few minutes of effort. Otherwise buy a new one. Money doesn't come that easy for me personally, you can make it fit if its still in good shape.

I think this is the cause. When i took off my perimeter bolt covers the first time i decided it was a good idea to take out the gasket to check for tears. However no matter what I did, I couldn't get them back on. Ended up purchasing a new set from Advanced Auto. Think it was 16bucks for the set. GL
Lay it on the cover and press into place. If you run it into place like a squeegee (pressing it in along its length) it will stretch. Just lay it on and press in. A new one with do the same thing if you squeeze along its length.

I am prolly going to buy a new set. I was at AutoZone today to get the Felpro ones, but they were out. I will hit another store tomorrow.
