It's not really retarded, the damn pump should come with an O-Ring.

If you buy a oil pump from GM it does not come with a O-ring. Just go to your local gm dealer and they can get you one. Most stock them if not they can have it next day without any shipping charges.

So what's the difference between the black & green O ring again?

Thanks for the offer of the free one but I don't want you to have to go to the hassle.
Now that someone posted a part number I'll just go to the dealer.

Looks like the melling pump includes porting, both a stiffer and stock, spring and two o-rings for less money. DOH!
Oh well live and learn.

I believe the green one is maybe the updated heavy duty thicker one for trucks part# 12563963

This is a first for me. I didn't know we could get hammered over a $4.99 o-ring. Here's the deal, the oil pump does not come with an o-ring. GM does not include the o-ring when we purchase it from them for porting. Cylinder heads don't come with head gaskets. Water pumps don't come with gaskets. There are parts out there with gaskets not included. I apologized that the o-ring wasn't given to you for free. The website does not say the pump comes with an o-ring. However, if you look under related items on the site, you will find an oil pump o-ring. I will go ahead and make a drop down menu on the site so that it is crystal clear that an o-ring is not included.

It is obvious that it doesn't cost $17.xx to ship an o-ring. Looking at UPS going to a residence it is $9.53. A simple phone call would probably have gotten one dropped in an envelope and sent to you immediately to take care of you. I can not tell you how much a little common courtesy gets people...

I'm going to have to ask you to draw the line clearly for me on what I should assume and what I shouldn't.
If everyone else sells the same part with the o-ring should I assume you do to if you don't say differently?
How about if the picture next to the part shows certain pieces. If it's in that picture on your webpage next to the product name should I assume it comes with it?
I already said it was my fault for assuming so help me out here since you either really think I expect headgaskets with heads or maybe you're just patronizing me.

GM doesn't include an o-ring with their LS6 pump, which is the base pump for our ported pump. GM offers several different o-rings for various applications. If we included the F-body/Corvette o-ring in every pump, the truck guys would have massive oil hemorrhages and no oil pressure after their swap (different ID/OD/thickness). If we put the truck O-ring in every pump, the F-body and Corvette guys would have other similar issues.

Which would be the correct one for use in a 6.0l using my stock LS1 pickup and a ported LS6 pump?

If you're running the F-body or Corvette pick-up tube, you need the OE o-ring still. Part number 12557752

Default One Ring to Bind Them!!!

you use only metric lube and a left handed thrust to put it on...is that what makes it metric?

but wait a minute. you purchased an OIL PUMP right? i mean i see this happening when you buy maybe a pickup tube, but no where posted on their site does it say "hey everyone but Aaron91RS gets this magical GM oring, just so he can post and flame on about how the world hath wronged him. oh woe is the day". do you get mad when the women you meet dont already come with babies in them?

http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=151&catid=55

look it even says there....hey click me and you can have "ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL".

AFR F@#$% Me. They didn't give me free head gaskets with my $2,500 heads.

Like said, a phone call to TSP would have probably gotten you an O-Ring shipped in a envelope for free. They are very active on the site, as you can see by their replies to this thread.

I would just go to a dealership and get the O-ring.

Working on cars, you have to get use to not having exactly what you need every time. That's why I have spares of crap in the garage for when we are working on cars.

I believe this was all blown out of proportion for nothing. This problem was more the buyers issue than the sellers. When I ordered my ported LS6 pump(from TSP) I went the following day to the dealer to pick up an O-ring, and a few other things for my cam install. And yeah it ain't no 2 cent o-ring so be prepared.
