Thinner head gasktet on LS6 rebuild?
I am in California and we only have 91 octane.
Thunder Racing offers a head gasket around ~.040 - I haven't checked the exact installed height of my pistons, but if it is factory this should boost my compression from 10.5 to close to 11.
But at the same time it will give me quench. I am not sure which way to go on the LS engine. In the mopar world we jack the compression up to whatever is needed to get a true quench scenario, and not worry about it.
I have the HP Tuner so I can pull timing if it pings.
Anyone else tried this?
What is the highest compression ratio of all the factory LS motors?
.032"-.007" = .025" quench. I have a hard time avoiding knock retard, as detected with HP tuners as KR. Even on 97 octane VP gas.
