to cam or not to cam?
hello everyone. I have a 98 TA with cai and lm only. I'm interested in going with a hotter cam but not too outragous. Can anyone recommend what kind of set up would be best for daily driving? I'm looking for up to 20-40 hp gains. How difficult is it to swap cams? I'm pretty mechanically inclined.( I've done all bolt ons myself but nothing internally yet.) Also I don't have alot of money to spend so if anyone has some advise I would appreciate it. I've been reading what alot of you guys have said for years and you guys really seem to know your ****. I really enjoy my ls1, just looking to add some power. Thanks everybody and drive safe.

As far as what cam to go with...there are a million choices. For what you describe, I'd go with the tried and true Thunder Racing 224/224 .563/.563 114LSA. You will need to upgrade your valvetrain & pushrods, and it's a good idea to do a new timing chain and oil pump while you're in there.
Spend the money to get the good parts the first time and don't cut corners, this is important stuff.

you could probaly svae on buying a used cam, ls7 pushrods and stuff like that. but you proballly dont want to buy used valvesprings. also dont forget tp factor in your tune.

Ditto on the 224 cam..... I went with the off the shelf Comp version of the Tr224 and after 6 years, I still love it. Worked great with stock manifolds and even better with headers.
