AFR heads

Are the AFR heads a completely new design or are they just
ported ls1/ls6 heads? I have heard a couple people say they are aftermarket new design heads? I am trying to decide if they are worth 2500. I know I can get partriot stage two heads for about 1500 dollars. I know these heads are not out yet but does anybody know about the design or core?

See the ad in GM High Performance mag this month and last month too. They are a completly new casting, not a ported GM casting....the deck is a full 3/4 inch!

No units have been shipped as yet, however...

With the thicker deck, does that mean they are "taller" than stock GM heads? If so, how does this change the intake manifold surface and how much can you mill off to increase compression?

you can choose from two different combustion chamber sizes to have either lower or higher compression.

Thicker deck shoudn't make the head any "taller," just more metal at the deck for stronger integrity and less warpage. Should really help out the big FI and N2O guys.
