Removing leftover gasket
Removing leftover gasket I'm trying to clean up these heads so I can get them bolted down this week but I can't seem to get a lot of the left over mls gasket material off. I've tried using brake parts cleaner and a scotch bright pad but it just causes the pad to get damaged from all the water jacket holes and such. Could I just use a fine wire brush on a cordless drill to get this stuff off?

On the heads? I used LA's Awesome and a scotch bright pad myself. I assume your working with aluminum heads which scratch easy, not sure Id go the wire brush route. Did you try something like a can of gasket remover? Gunk makes some and its in an aerosol can, it eats away and breaks down the gasket, makes getting it off easier.

If you use the aerosol gasket remover, DO NOT get it on your hands. That **** BURNS.
Something I've been doing for a little while is using a piece of 1000-1500 grit sandpaper sprayed with WD-40, but I've never tried between the heads and block (never had the heads off my car). I've used it to clean up the intake and exhaust port sides of the heads, and it worked really well at getting all the old crap off.
