A set of factory 5.3 heads won't work, you'll run into PTV clearance issues. The valves need to be "sunk" into the head more to clear without flycutting.

TSP should chime in to explain it better

he did say "PORTED" 5.3...meaning as in NOT STOCK...

but to the OP it should be good for around 430+ rwhp

even ported ones need to sink the valves. that is not something they do to every 5.3 head. I would guess that you would gain 60 - 80 rwhp through your stall deppending on your supporting mods of course. What size stall is that?

3800 stall. Where would I have the valves sunk in? Just a regular port shop or what?

whoever you buy the heads from should be able to do it. If you buy from TSP, which is who makes the MS3, they can set you up all in one.

You might be able to send the heads to TSP

that was when it was in the vette, i currently am doing the swap should be buttoned up like a month or so, the guy who owned the vette said he drove it daily no problem and gas wasn't to bad for the hp. that what i was looking for since this car is my daily driver.
that was with stock ls1 intake and injectors, a fast system will help flow numbers and ive read from others that they gained almost 30-40 hp by switching intakes in some applications, of course long tubes and an x pipe will help

perfect, i have every plan to run a stock ls1 intake and injectors! I already have lt's and a full exhaust though.... I'm sticking with my 2.73's though

You are going to need taller gears than the 2.73s to take full advantage of the MS3.

yeah i originally had 2:73 gears in my car, great on the highway , but they will hurt your 60 ft times drastically, id go with 3:73 gears or if your worried even 3:42's will be a huge difference in performance. Ive heard many say the race is won in the first 60ft. which is not always true i know for a fact but just think about it. and if you ever think about goin higher than 3:73's , i know one thing, with my 4:10s and especially with a 3800 stall converter, you have to be dedicated to drive it everyday, i wouldnt trade it for the world

I would go with some taller gears. At least do some 3.42's you can get them out of any M6 car rear end for cheap. You will tank yourself later.

I'm on the highway 90% of the time so I really like my cruising RPM with the gears I have now I mean, if I am running 12.3's on the 2.73's now, they can't be hurting me thaaaat much. I'll switch em out sooner or later though

I have MS3/5.3 stage 2.5 heads from Texas Speed and I just got a fresh dyno sheet @ 439 hp to the wheels with the cutouts open.I just had a 9" moser put in with 4:11's. I'd have to say those gears were my best move yet!The cam loves those gears.
