Default Well im screwed

..My engine started knocking so now I am on the hunt for a new engine. I have a guy with an 02 LS6 blocked engine out of a TA with 39k on it that he would sell me. It comes with a Torquer V2 cam and springs already installed.

Its either that or buy an 01 LS1 block from a corvette and build a forged 347.

How much do you think it would be worth to buy this 02 engine as opposed to building a 347?. I would be using my stock heads, probably buy a cam, I would be using my intake, oil pan...and all of the other good stuff.

forge it spray it. cheap and fast. a good rotating assembly from texas speed is 2000-2200 and when my bro got his heads ported it was 350$ from a good shop here in chicago. they work on the chicago wise guys cars. and a decent spray setup can be had for 1200$. Ethier way depends on your budget

cheaper to just rebuild. Your knocking sound is probably a bad bearing. Pull it have it tore apart. Get the block cleaned, hone the cylinders, and put a forged rotating assembly and have it built the way YOU want it built. I rebuilt my engine for WAY less than buying a new engine IMO

Yup I did exactly what he said. Had the machine clean everything up and reused the crank and bought forged rods and pistons. I had maybe $800 in the short block

Just find a solid block (if yours is hurt), rotating assembly and have a good machine shop assemble the short block. Assembly is NOT that expensive. My old motor the cyl walls were fucked. I bought a used block and reused my rotating assembly. The machine shop checked my block, honed, cleaned, balanced, ALL new bearings in the motor, rings, assembly was under a grand. This was done at a well known/does alot of lsx motors and fairly expensive but good quality

If I get my engine rebuilt with new pistons and rods and rod bolts do you think I would be ok to spin it to 6700 after I get a cam?
