New forged LS6 , what oil for break in???

I was told to get regular (non synth) Castrol 10-40 to break in the motor for the first 1000 miles.

what are u guys using for break in?

several companies sell break in oil that should be enriched with minerals most oils have pulled...its more for flat tappet old school cams but it can't hurt

that or go to a chevy dealership and get some engine assembly additive, should be about $10 for a bottle and add that in with regular oil

rotella is high in these same minerals and such, but supposedly also has increased detergents which offset the benefits but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know why or to what extent...and being as the new cams are roller I don't even think it would make a ton of difference

good info, my tuner said to just get Castrol GTX 10-40 for the break in
