Default Darton Wet Sleeves

Let me know your opinions on this setup. Has ANYONE had this done and if so, how are they holding up? What was the cost for the sleeves/block after machining and installation?

I'm HIGHLY considering this for my motor to put my worries of dropping a sleeve to rest. My motor is doing just fine but I'd like to have the extra re-assurance. Ya' can never have enough of that

I am going to go with the Dartons when I sleeve my block (388 all bore) just because they don't cost that much more than the dry sleeves (about $500).

In your case, I would not waste the money to cut those sleeves out you already have (your 4.125") just to put Dartons in. What block did you use (LS1 or LS6), who did the liners, and how many miles do you have on it?

LS1 block. It doesn't matter the block used. The LS6 has some better windage tunnels and that's about it. Tne sleeving process for both blocks is the same.

I have a Darton block ready to run, my rotating assembly is getting balanced then it will be ready to put together. I spoke with Darton in detail about which block would be better the LS1 or LS6 and they stated the LS1 would be better because it doesn't have the windows under the sleeves. They said you loose 30% of the material that the bottom of the sleeve holds on to therefore to use the LS1 block to seal all the way around the bottom of the sleeves. That is what I used.

I'm using the latest ring setup from JE as well as their FSR(forged side relief - 915F forging) pistons, I'll e-mail a picture of them tonight if you would like, very nice pieces and pretty light as well. I had them ceramic coated on the top and antifriction coating for the sides. The rings are 1.2 mm steel based top ring for greater strength and increased heat toleration, 1.5 mm ductile iron 2nd ring and a 3 mm oil ring.
