New upgrades
Hey guys, I've got a 98 Z28 M6
Patriot Stg 2 LS6 heads/ 220/230 .585/.585 112lsa
Dual Timing set
Pacesetters with ORY and SLP dual dual
Ported/Descreened MAF
I'm want to add these parts.
LS6 intake w PP TB and 42lb injectors
25%ud
LS6 oilpump.
HS 1.8 RR
Are these a good mix of parts for my combo?
I'm hoping to get 440-450rwhp...

Not sure if youll hit 440rwhp (im not good at guessing dyno numbers) But it sounds like a good set up
And call texas speed about porting a ls6 oil pump. I dont know if they will but i think they port the oil pumps they sell so maybe they can hook ya up with some porting. if not just buy one from em lol

We have a special on the powerbond underdrive pulleys, they come with a free ARP style bolt AND free correct size belts with free shipping PLUS we carry the already ported and blueprinted LS6 pumps in stock. Sd3964B is the pn for it.

if you can handle 25% why not? i have heard of a few probs with them, but over the many we have sold, they have always been satisfied customers. rocker arms are nice and all, but depends on how much lift your cam has and what springs you have. They are a descent perf gain.

What WOULDNT you put a fast on?
Its got a 224 cam, a fast intake, nitrous, and ported 243s on it
Then you would say, well id put a fast on it.
COME ON. He didnt ask about a fast. He asked about the rockers. What makes you think that cam is so aggressive that it would hurt to put those rockers on? Wait, to even think about putting the rockers on? He was told to be wary of lift. If it has too much lift, then he should not, but if he can work with the higher lift, is there a reason to say no? And dont pull the BS excuse of rocker arm tip weight or moment of inertia or any of the other fabled power losses/parasitic losses that he could exp.

no he didn't ask...but he did say he was putting an LS6 on it.
and i figured with heads and the decent cam he listed....he could take the $$ from the LS6 intake purchase and the $400 saved by not doing rockers and he'd have a pretty good chunk of the cost of a FAST...even new.
as for rockers...
here is a clip from TR's website....for a significantly smaller cam than he listed:
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"TR 220-112" - 220/220 .551/.551 112 LSA 1500-6500 RPM Power Band. Computer Tuning Required with automatic transmission cars. A very well balanced camshaft that makes excellent power across the entire RPM range. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended."
the cam he listed look like XER lobes...which are too aggressive for 1.8 rockers.
its more than a matter of lift and whether springs can handle it.
you could probably do it, but it wouldn't be the most reliable thing to run. and with .620" lift he could run into PTV clearance issues, depending on heads, valves, and head gasket.

Maybe you should tell this to the LS7 guys. Or the other hundreds who use the 1.8/1.85 rockers with aggressive cams. Not recommended right? GM does not recommend modifying their engines as they come in the car.

i can't say i've seen anyone run 1.8 rockers with anything more than a baby cam.
dont know anything about the ls7s, but my guess is they are different enough to handle the change.
and when one of the top LSx shops in the country doesn't reccomend something...in general i listen.
BUT...you're obviously an internet BADASS....so maybe i should bow down and kiss the ground you walk on

no, dont kiss any ground near me. LS7s use a 1.8 ratio stock. Maybe you should tell yella terra to stop making their 1.8 rockers too because you can only use them on baby cams and no one runs them anymore and because TR doesnt recommend them

WOW, you guys totally fucked my thread up with you bickering at eachother. Thanks for that. I'm not going to buy a fast, already spent the money on a PPTB for an LS6 so... Besides, IMO FAST is ripping people off with how expensive those are. Don't get me wrong I would love to have one, but if I'm going to spend a grand why not spend two and have a custom sheetmetal intake made???

Turned into a pissing match. For the most part, if you want to try the 1.8 rockers, that is up to you. I would check at the least for piston to valve clearance issues before you actually run the engine though and coil bind on your springs.
It is your build, so do what you want.

Well I talked to my old man about it and I'm going to hold out on the rockers for now. So far I've got
LS6intake- as long as a win the auction.
PPTB / 42lb injectors
25%UD pulley on the way. These should help reach my motors potential for now.
Also got a panhard bar, SFC, and LCA's so I should see a noticable difference!
