I have a 2001 camaro z-28. for a while i had kept it stock except for a borla catback, and slp lid. however i recently decided i wanted more power, and added LPP longtube headers, ORY, 3.73 gears, a yank 3600 stall, and a torquer v.2 cam. i LOVE the power the car makes, but i definitely lost quite a bit of driveability. I do not regret the headers, gears, or stall, but i am having second thoughts about the cam and ORY. This is because with the cam on a 112 lsa, it just doesnt run near as smooth, and it takes quite a while to warm up and it just runs rough for every day driving. and the ORY definitely has to go, as the smell of exhaust fumes on long trips is beginning to give me a headache, and making my clothes smell. So my question is what cam should i go with to get back most of the driveability of stock? i was thinking maybe a ZO6 or 224 cam, on like a 114 lsa? or would the torquer v2 be good on a 114 lsa? I love the power of the car, but its my daily driver, so it has to be reliable and convienient. thats the only reasons that i am going to make the changes.

how the hell are you getting fumes in your car while driving...especially with rear exit exhaust.
i don't even get fumes when i'm driving slow...and my exhaust is dumped.

sounds like you need a better tune, that cam should tune pretty easily for daily driver duty.

I get plenty of fumes in mine with the windows down when driving slow or sitting still. I think cam overlap is a contributing factor for the fumes, in addition to not having cats.
I think one of the best cams for a DD is the 224 on a 114.

I rode in the car, and even helped with the tune, and to me with that loose Yank converter, and that cam, I was very pleased on how well it drove. Actually I didn't expect for it to drive as good as it does. As far as the exhaust fumes go.. the clamps that came with the headers did not impress me, so my guess is that's where you maybe getting your exhaust smell from. They were fine when I drove the car, but who knows now. I've worked on these cars since '99 and I was honestly impressed with the driveability of the car with the mods it has.
So.. I'd recommend a stock cam or the 224, get a block off plate to kill the rasp of the Borla exhaust or get some cats back on the car. Are you happy with the loose Yank converter? I'm not being a dick, but our Camaros aren't Cadillacs, especially when they have been modded.
