I just got my new custom grind cam from futral motorsports and happened to notice it was a billet cam (ground from 1 solid piece rather then casted), and that it was made by cam motion rather then comp like my previous thunder racing cam was.
my question is how are the cam motion lobes compared to the comp as far as performance, the reason I ask is because I know little about the company and just wondered if anyone else on here has compared the two, or could give me an input on both.
thanks

I prefer Cam Motion cams over Comp cams any day of the week, but most of my customers like to go with something they know (Comp).
Cam Motion has always given me better driveability, and on average, more power. May not be this way for every shop, but it has been for me. You'll find some people won't use them because Cam Motion had a problem a while back with cams falling apart, but have since fixed the issue. I, FWIW, have never had a cam issue and I've used probably 10 of their cams in the past 2 years.

Cam Motion has been around for a long time. They are not as well known as Comp because they don't spend the big $$$$$$ that Comp spends on advertising.

The vt noise is just a little louder. had 2 different cams same size and lift 1st one was comp other was cam motion " do not want to get into why i changed long story" cam motion made more power 9hp and 11lbs more but was a little louder . If i recall it was because the bace circ. of the cam is alittle smaller, had to change puch rods from 7.4 to 7.425 made it better but still louder. Dont get me wrong if i had to buy another cam it will be a cam motion style cam. I have seen this with other cars besides my own more then once for some reason they just make more power I cant explain why just do.

If it was a Futral cam it probably came on one of his lobe profiles. Cam Motion does the grinding, but Futral has his own lobes. I prefer Cam motion cams and Allan's lobes he knows what to do for making more average power.

detoxx... i am running a custom spec cam from alan its basically a f15 except it has a 112+4 lsa i am very excited to see what it will do, and thank you for all the great info everyone
I was running a TR 230 236 600",600" on a 112+2 before, and that was on comp lobes xfi if I am not mistaking. I will definatly reply back once the car is up and running with results from the old to new setup
it will be bias however because i upgraded to a vengeance ported fast 90 from my old ls6 intake and added bigger injectors and a 410 gear from a 390
either way it will be interesting to see

Cam motion is part of Crane cams and may no longer excist I received a paper in the mail about 4 months ago requesting all the test parts back I have from Crane because they are going out of business.....? Some liquidation place is auctioning off there facility in 2 weeks. I have been testing valvetrain parts for the past 12 years for them and others and I can say the cam motion lobes are very good designs and I fel better than the comp stuff and they have to be because they dont have a name like comp so they let the parts speak for them.

All Comp Cams LS1 cams are steel as well and always have been. They simply have way more lobes than anyone and are very fast as well because of their size. I like Cam Motion as well but haven't used any in a while but they are definitely good people.
