1,200 for cam install... WHAT...
No way Jose.
South Florida labor rates are through the roof.
I charge $600 for a Cam,timing chain,springs,oil pump change..It still doesn't help pay the living bills
I know that if I made a comment about MTI being the most expensive, then there would be some sort of argument from one of their Stormtroopers saying **** about quality.

So i'm gonna go with what the pro's have. Some places like to take the heads off to do the cam, thus inducing costs of head gaskets, decking (might as well), etc.
Might seem extreme, but it is probably the PROPER way to install all the little shiz at once.
The cost of the pulley (0), Plugs (0), ls6 intake (near zero), deleting the emissions, and various other things get shoved into that R&R motor price. Header install prices are lower, 'verter install prices are lower.
Ultimately i will probably have them do it correctly, than take a chance on screwing up, like dropping a valve, etc.
but i'm doing the whole shebang at once (see above) so its logical to have it all professionally done, then dynotuned by an experienced person. I could handle a/f etc, but automatic is new to me. Might as well let the folks who got it down pat, do it right, the first time.
If you were like me with $2500 in parts to be put on, then i'd say pay them, but if you just have a cam it would seem ridiculous to pull the heads off/motor out. I don't particularily care of having the motor removed but it is ultimately cheaper FOR MY case.
