Default Engine Build

Well my 98s got bad lifter noise so Im gonna go in and replace everything

anyways Im new to the game so Im just asking ppl to check over my list and see if I have everything listed and if what Im getting is good


LS2 Chain 12586482 (need a part number for the gears please help!)
LS7 Lifter Kit of 16 12595365
LS2 Lifter Trays 12499225
GM Hot Cam w/ Springs 12480033 (best price I can find is 454 bucks anyone find it better?)

Ill be installing Felpro gaskets as well as new 0w30 GC and fresh Dexcool

Looks good, have you done some home work on cam choices? Nothing wrong with the hot cam but I would go alittle bigger. Just my $.02

was told anything bigger id have to throw a stall in
the Aro is just a toy i have a Caddy STS as my main DD and Im in college so loan payoff time will be around soon
just looking for a budget build

also forgot to get ideas on my oil pump, the LS2 pump is the one of choice right?

I got ya, sorry I didn't see the auto tranny. One trick I learned along the way, before you lift the heads pull the water pump off and take a shop vac and put it over the water pump ports in the block and suck as much coolant out as you can. This will help with getting coolant every where. Also might want to add hardened pushrods to the list.

and picked up the oil today
0w30 European Formula Castrol

i really didnt wanna waste money on a stall as i plan on buying a new Camaro eventually and didnt wanna sink the money into this one
but from what i hear the cam will only leave me wanting more which means id need a stall too

i got about 2500 i can sink into this car for everything
what can everyone recommend then?

Or just unscrew a few of the block plugs / above the starter, and on the other side, same place. That will drain the coolant in the block, down to that level.
