Default I need camshaft selection help..

I need help choosing a camshaft for an engine I am putting together. The car will mostly see 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile drag duty, but I'd like it to be possible to sometimes drive to the local track if I can't secure a trailer. I have most all of the parts accept the camshaft. Here's my setup so far:

1978 Malibu 3200lbs w/driver, stock style suspension
Ford 9" w/ 3.70 gears
Powerglide w/brake
3200 stall (am willing to buy a new stall up to 4500-5000)

Stock LQ4 bottom end w/ arp rod bolts, lingenfelter oil pump
Patriot stage 3 243 heads w/ .650lift Patriot gold dual springs
Edelbrock Vic JR w/ Accufab 4500 throttle body on Wilson 4500-4150 adapter
1 7/8" Long tube headers
175-225hp Nitrous through a wilson spray bar plate

I am hoping to hit at least a 5.99 in the 1/8th which may or may not be possible with the stock bottom end. I will see I guess.

Looking into the MS4 or F15 from futral is a good idea.

Getting a hold of a camshaft company for a custom grind is an even better idea.

Best advice I can give you is to contact Patick G who is a mod on this board. He is a cam spec wiz and could lead you in the right direction. His specs and tunes got me in the 10's Good luck.

You really need to discuss this application with someone with dyno time on a carb intake setup. Hoestly I dont mave a lot of time with that combo so I'm not really 1000% sure what works best. I have a pretty good idea what I'd run & would be happy to discuss it with you.

Give us a call if we can be of help!

I would suggest something along those lines

236/240 .615/.609 111+1 LSA

More stall
