Default 6.0L Buildup questions

So, it seems to me I should be able to take an old LQ4/LQ9 6.0L iron block and throw in a 4.100" crank and a set of LS2 pistons and connecting rods(4.000 bore and 6.098" length?) and machine the bores out to 4.000" and have about a 412 cu. inch engine. Does that sound right or am I missing something obvious. I just want to make sure before I start buying things that might not fit up.

the lq4/lq9 blocks are already around 4.0 bore, actually they could be a little over. you would be best going to a 4.03 bore for when you get it decked. that way you do not have to worry about the piston being too small to seal.

Well, it appears I had read a different bit of info and you are absolutely correct on the bore being 4.000. So really I just need longer rods and a bit larger rings and the crank and I'm all set. How exactly is the computer going to react to all of this? I will likely need a tune. Is it better to go with a tuning program like hptuners or just pay for a tune? I'm pretty techno savvy but I've never tried to tune an engine before so I think I'd be a little lost. Also, I'm assuming I'll need larger injectors for the increased displacement and maybe a cam too. Does all that sound right or am I again missing stuff?

youll need pistons for the 4.1 crank, stock size will not work. ive got hptuners and its kind of cool knowing im tuning it myself. no point in going to a stroker with a stock cam. if you tune it yourself get the stock ones that are modified to flow more, that way you just need to change the ifr for the tune. then you dont have to screw with the other injector tables.
