Right now I'm leaning towards the f14. Futral recommended the f14 ,but when i mentioned i might drive it to the beach once this summer (2 hr drive) he suggested upgrading the gears first. He didnt mentione anything about the f13. Anyone have the f14 and maybe have had a decent road trip with stock gears? Other than that beach trip my camaro will be taken out to run with my friends cars on the weekends.

230/230 .612/.592 111+2 LSA

That will do nicely with your setup, trq galore, shifts 6600>6800
It will like your gears.

All cams that can reach 450rwhp will be high overlap and big turds unless you go with some steep gears. Also you would definitely need better than a LS7 clutch for any of them.
Then you would be chocking them at the intake.

My advice, be realistic and go with a low 230 duration cam on a tight LSA to benefit from your setup the most. If you like Futral, then go with a custom order FM14 on a 111+4 LSA

It is a good cam. I ran it for over a year in my 346. I was running Dart heads, bolt ons and a stock 3.42 gear for a while. I eventually went to a 3.90 and it really woke the car up. I was making 451 rwhp and 423 rqtq in my Z06 with that setup, and I was using the stock Ls6 intake and water pump to do it. I daily drove the car for 2 years like that without issues.

I have since been through two other Futral cams in my 383, and all have met or exceeded my expectations. They make killer average power and torque. It is all about area under the curve and Allan has that figured out.

I have followed your threads and you obviously no what you are talking about. I appreciate you giving input. What i listed is prior to the cam install ,but i Plan to buy the vengeance package that they offer now with the Intake/TB ported around winter. If i were to add new gears prior to the cam install would a f13 or f14 be more realistic? I keep seeing all these videos of the f14 and I cant get over it. I'm not trying to doubt you at all by any means, just trying to compromise my needs/wants.

After some more research It seems to make more sense to go with the f13 over the f14 even though I love the sound of the f14. Only due to me keeping the stock gears.etc. Anyone have any input towards this?

Another option not mentioned that could be considered would be either the G5X2 or 3. The 3 in my opinion is too much for your setup but the X2 is an excellent performer with mediocre street manners between 1500 and 2500 rpm. Once it starts pulling at 3k+ rpm's it really wakes up and every head turns. Many guys even on these boards make the power you're hoping for. 390+ Rwhp is very doable with stock heads, 450 has been made with heads and all the bolt-ons. In my opinion, the X2 is the "Best" compromise between losing little low end torque and gaining huge power up top.

You would hate the Trex without gears. It's an enormous cam that has earned its name

G5X2 232/240 .595/.609 112+4 or 114+4
G5X3 Little bigger than the X2 (not disclosed)

On Futral cams it is a different lobe that has different ramp rate and increased lift of .646 on the intake and .612 on the exhaust.

I did some research on them ,but didn't get much feedback if it gave you a higher performance with a highlift. Would it be safe for me to go with the f13 highlift?

high lift is good for more power down low. However is harder on your springs. You would have to change springs after 40k miles.

I vote custom for a few dollars more, rather then guessing let a professional do it for. To keep stock gears my recomendation would be go alittle on the smaller side than the larger size, its possible to have a small cam sound mean and make very good power. Of the off the shelf cams mentioned the F13/14 always show good results, and rarely do you see a complaint....and also like mentioned I have seen very good results from the LG G5X2/G5X3. I had a cam sped'd by BRE, and its a smaller cam that makes good power and sounds awesome...no regrets and couldnt be happier with it.

Back when Allan cam out with the high lift. They made more power all around. A 01 Z06 just like mine with the exact same bolt ons and dynoed within 1 rwhp of my car was used as a comparison. My car with the F14 yielded 423 rwhp and 408 rwtq. This F14HL car did 434 rwhp and 416 rwtq.
All around it is a slight edge over the regular 14 if you can get past having high lift.

I have stopped by Tick Performance. Good guys. I just wanted to see more TQ out of the Cam install. Also my car is still located in PA.(recently moved to NC)

I guess that wouldn't affect me since my car only sees about 1500 miles/year ,but I wouldnt want to put any strain on the car.

The LG is alittle to expensive for my taste ,but from what i hear it has great results. I'm going to give Futral a call again today because yesterday I came off like I was determined on the F14 and nothing else ,but the f13 from what people have PMd me seems more reasonable. Thanks for your input and anymore feedback on these cams would be great.
Thanks

I talked to Charlie at Futral Motorsports and explained everything out to him and he recommended going with the F12 230/232-114. Before I make my final decision I would like to see if anyone has the f13 with a similar setup like mine. I would really like to compromise between the f12-f14 ,but I don't want to push it.
