You are going to have to stick with a small cam. Maybe a 212/218 or something in that range. I would do the converter instead of the cam. A lot bigger gains.

ditto that.. whats the point of putting the cam in before a stall and headers. If anything, get the headers on the car first! Then do the stall, but i would slap the stall in before headers though!

Your car may feel quicker on top end with the cam and no stall, but its gonna be a dog off the line

figure 350-400 for a cam, then you will need chromemoly pushrods and stronger valve springs. 600bucks easy there, then ls1edit for tuning

a decent stalls 720bucks and tuning would only involve messing with shift points and deleting TM. Less hassle and headaches!! Doing internal mods always involves alot of time and hassle to get things right

stall
headers
then cam!

if you do things in that order you can tweak and get every tenth outta the car she has! Going internal first skews that up :p

good luck and its your car so mod how you want if you are staying stock stall still though a 218/218 or TR220 maybe?

but trust me and get a 3200-3600 stall atleast!

I agree with the above. After a Stall and headers, I went with the MTI C1 and gained 43 RWHP on the dyno.

A converter should ALWAYS be the first mod on an A4 car!

I was able to get a MTI T1 cam in my 02 A4 SS with stock stall and LS1 edit . The worst thing though was the rpms had to be increased so much to keep the car running being a pain in the A$$ to drive in traffic . Now I have a stall etc.

Definitely go for a stall, then headers, then free up your intake. After all that you'll be able to run a TR224 with some tuning no problem. That way you won't be replacing your cam again after a few thousand miles again cuz you want more power. The TR224 is a proven cam with great results, just need the right equipment to take advantage of it.

If you DO decide to do the cam before the verter, keep it on the small side.

But the verter BEFORE the cam is the way to go.
Plan ahead and get a verter that will be very effiecient in the RPM you will be running later with the cam and still complement your stock/internal motor now.

Good luck amigo.

John..you sir speak just like me...I would say the SAME THING...VERTER then other mods...don't do anything less than a 3200...doesn't matter you're mods on these cars really....even a stock motor loves a big stall...I know mine did.

The Multiplates are a lil more expensive but offer better effeciency at the same stall...

but if you plan on getting cam w/out a tune on stock stall..heck..just get an LS6 cam or something TINY with good springs so when u do get the tune and verter u can go big.

X1 in my tuned, 4000 stall, A4
