Default What lifters should I be using?

motor is a 408 with 246/254 custom cam, TFS 235cc heads. I was originally going to go with LS7 lifters but then was told that those wouldnt hold up in my motor. I was told to go with morel lifters which seem to be pretty good but they are alot more then i want to spend. I will spend the extra cash for the morels if thats what i need. What would you guys recommend?

Morels are good for smaller base circle cams.
They were designed exactly for that purpose.

Who is building your motor, go with their advice.

Yes the Morels would be a good choice for you. Go to their web site and read more about them.
If you are putting that motor together yourself, do extensive research on your valvetrain setup.

im getting an HKE shortblock and i will be putting the rest together myself. they recommended the morel lifters but they are $550 vs $130 for the LS7's i had originally planned.

That is your decision, I am not saying that LS7 will not work, but Morels are better. In any case, do not forget to get new trays and look at thicker pushrods (thicker than 5/16th or thicker walled 5/16th)

We've had great results with the LS7 lifters & for basically 120 bux they're hard to beat. The Morel & Comp R will be nice, but you have to make the call if it's worth the $$ for you or not. With all the failures I'd stay away from the Caddy Race lifters, but we've had great results with the LS7 lifters.
