It is plenty drivable right now, I have an A4, not an M6 is makes a pretty big difference. With the AC on it is right around 700. It works okay w/ the stall. I just want to close it up a bit to hear the cam more, maybe idle at 750 and 600 with the AC on. I went through all the sizes of bits and it wouldnt catch an idle on anything just sitting so this one finally worked

I am glad it helped you, I remember having to heal & toe the gas before I drilled mine , I am thinking of going to LS1 edit to help with a slight raise of the idle and the ocasional cut off with the AC

don't these cars have computer controller idle air control?

Yes but that works well for stock tuned engines, but as many have found out a larger hole does the trick or as some have said tuning "can" solve the problem, not everyone has LS1edit though.

Ihave a 5.3 truck with a 224/230 114 cam and idle is a crap, since the TB doesn't have nither a hole or a screw for the blade (the blade operates electronically, no throttle cable) I drilled a 3/16 hole on it, it idles well sometimes around 750, but sometimes it wont idle at all, is this normal and I need to drill more, or I could have something else messing with the idle it doesn't show any codes exept for p0300, any help?

Drill more. But try to get a set of machinist's drill bits; the standard sizes go up too fast and you will have a hole that is too big. Or start a second, much smaller hole.

yes.

the problem is, with a cam, you need the air to come in easier at idle..

when the computer trys to make it idle, the IAC backs out all the way.. it cant let enough air in.

so you just enlarge the factory air hole... and a little more air comes in. the IAC then has some room to work, and you're all set.

there are alot of cases where the IAC doesnt have enough room to keep the engine smoothly idling or save it from a stall... while tuning is needed to make it ideal, the tuning still controls a mechanical device (the IAC) and it only as so much room to work.

when i drill, its only because the IAC is near maxed out, and i only drill enough to make it about where it should be, as seen in a scan tool.

dont make the hole huge to set the idle.. scan and watch the IAC. if its still not idling good, its in the tuning.. drilling should only be done to fix the IAC.

With all my cams I drilled a 13/64" hole and did the rest of the fine tuning through the PCM with tuning, my car fires up right away and idles perfectly with both the A/C on and off.

Just drill some holes in the intake, that'll fix the idle problems.
