Default Possible to "over head" a car???

looking to get a stock z06 and trying to make a plan so right when i purchase i can start modding. I'd like to keep this as stock sounding as possible so i'm sticking with the ls6 cam but i'd like to run ls6 ported heads along with full bolt ons. What im asking is if i can run stage II's or with that size cam would stage II's be a waste of money and not be much gain over stage I's??

Also what heads, I've been looking into PRC ls6 and livernois, both seem to be good product at a fair price. Anyone I'm overlooking??

Thanks in advance

This is very, very basic info, but you don't want to flow too much and lose velocity, you'll lose low end tq if you do that. Sorry I can't be of more help.

If you want to do stage 2 heads then I would bump the cam a little. There are a ton of sleeper cams out there, that will give little to no lobe over the LS6 cam. That way it will run and sound almost as it does now with some more power. You will gain horsepower but not as much in torque staying with the LS6 cam.

Of course you're going to gain tq and hp over the stock heads, but the higher flowing the head, the less low end torque vs top end HP your going to lose.

Basically: Higher Flowing = More top end hp, Less low end tq.

+1 I say go to an aftermarket head and get everything out of them.

I'd say you should pickup my afr 205's but considering they are milled to 58.x cc's instead of 63 like Predator suggests then I'd say the compression will be too high for a stock cam.

Predator can you explain why a stock cam might not like 11.3 to 1 or higher compression ??

You don't want a set of hogged ls6 heads. The over sized port will lead to diminished port velocity which will kill low rpm hp/tq. Peak numbers will be good but do you want to wait until 5000 rpms to feel the power you paid for ??
