Default Is this normal clutch dust accumulation or an oil leak?

Is this normal clutch dust accumulation behind the flywheel or an oil leak? The rear mail seal looks ok to me. Kinda looks like oil but could be clutch dust that has gotten wet. Shouldnt be much water getting up there but maybe just moisture causes that. Its especially thicker / gewey and tacky by the starter area and edges. What do you guys think?

I think it's an oil leak.

It may one of leaks caused by porosity in the block underneath the rear engine cover. If so it can be repaired using some sealant (GM P/N 12378521).

The bottom of the main seal is dirty but the heaviest areas of accumulation are on the left and right sides where the dust covers are and also at the very bottom where it looks like there is a vent hole. Those all seam to be areas that water would most likely be able to penetrate if you were driving in the rain. I could see water and dirt and black clutch powder making this gunk substance so I was leaning on this being normal but wondered if any of you guys seen this when pulling your flywheel.

This is a stock clutch on an ls1 with 55k miles, first time being pulled off. A good amount of disc powder came out when I pulled it.
