Default dumb ls6 question

im just wondering if i were to put a 6.0 in my car and make it a ls6, would it be ok to run the stock 6.0 heads or would i lose alot of power? and on a budget what is the best head to run?

The LS6 is 5.7L not 6.0L. The LS2 and LQ9 are 6.0L's with 400 and 345 horsepower respectively. The LS2 has 10.9:1 compression, the LQ9 has 10:1, the LS2 has an aluminum block and the LQ9 has a cast iron. As far as your head question, the LS2 has 243's (same as the LS6 minus the hollow/sodium filled valves) and the LQ9 has 317's which aside from having a larger combustion chamber (hence lower compression) share the same port design as the 243's. Either head is a good choice, but the 317's will be at a disadvantage due to the lower compression, unless of course you're boosted!
