Could the LS7 Lifters and 7.425 even on a 1.800 installed height cause a bind or at least been way too close for comfort? I understand that they are hydraulic lifters and that its end user that should measure but damn .060 is alot to not know about...I wish GM advertised that!
You were running too much preload which could have bottomed/ or close to, the lifter. Kinda like running non hydraulic. That with cold spring and added bad harmonic resonnance could have caused the spring to shatter at a higher rpm. (this is just speculation).

Thats what I was thinking... I had no idea about the LS7 lifters...man Im glad I saw your post about that ****. I wont make the same mistake on this car!!

No I haven't personaly but it is the general concensus.

There is visual proof as well. I started checking that out when failures started to appear.

LS7 in left in both pics

I think I have both of those lifters, I remember seeing one wheel covered more than the other in one of the older sets of lifters.

Ill measure them and see the diffence in the height of the pushrod seats.
