Prc stage 2.5 5.3 heads or prc stage 1 ls6 heads
So i broke a header bolt in 1 of my heads and i have $1100 saved for mods and ive decided to do a head swap i will be swaping cams later on but i dont have the money now so im just doing the heads and i dont know which ones would be better i would like it to perform well with the stock cam cause it will probebly be a while before i swap cams cause i want to work on building up the trans, rear, and suspention. So what heads would you guys choose my car is a 02 ws6 a4 with full bolts and stall i would like to make about 360rwhp with the heads my car made 332rwhp now and i will probebly do a cam in the 230 range when i swap cams and hoping for around 400rwhp when i do the cam thanks for the advice.

I'm trying to decide on the PRC 5.3L CNC'd Stage 2 or LS6 CNC'd heads as well. I thought I read that the LS6 heads offer more on the top-end of the rpms. Am I correct on this? I'm after more low to mid range power and torque so I would like to know the difference between the two.

Very good advice, thats basically what I did. I'm making around 410whp and 390tq with a cheap setup. Make sure you have them milled to bring the compression up around 11:1, it cost me $50. Oh ya I'm running a small cam mid 220's duration. For around $1,100 I think you could make 420whp+ with a bigger cam. Check out my signature link. It's a lot easier to degree your cam when the heads are off too.

depending on what cam you eventually go with, the stage 1 ls6's come with ls6 springs which i don't know off the top of my head how much lift they are good for, but for most aftermarket cams these springs won't cut it. the stage 2.5 5.3's come with springs good for 650 lift so when you do swap cams, thats one less thing you need to worry bout, just my .02

I don't think you can go wrong with either setup. Just a little hint though we have a little special going on next week that I think you'll like!!
How about LS6 Stage 2.5s for the Stage 2.5 5.3ls normal price!!!

How did A R D wind up in the word filter? Are you kidding me?
OP I would say get some 243's for cheap and have them ported. Bo White has a great rep if you can get him to do them for you, and there are others who can do just as well. 243's will give you alot of room to grow, more so than if you get the 5.3's and mill the hell out of them. I did and I make good power for what I have, but Im pretty well stuck with the cam I have.

SO he should get Ported heads and mill them to 11.3/11.4 and run stock cam on pump gas?
TO the OP , stay away from internet bull$hit. I think stock ls6 heads with a good valve job and a little milling, a custom cam will be your best bet.
Do not go that high on compression with stock cam unless you want to run race gas all the time.

Why is it every thread with anything to do with TSP or PRC has willyfast, aintskeerd, and nitrous383 talking ****? Are you guys a competing shop or something? My prc heads flow more than advertised and pushed my vette past 1000rwhp with turbos. Not to mention when my reluctor wheel moved on my crank and fireslotted my old heads the tsp guys built me a replacement head set for dirt cheap.

dont be so modest, you do unreal work.. I've seen them. A friend used to run a set of your 5.3's.... very admirable work.
