Default Installing new heads with '02 LS6 cam

Is it okay to run a stage 2 head with a stock '02 LS6 camshaft? For instance, say the heads came with aftermarket valves (patriot performance s2 ls6 is what I am looking at) that are shorter than the '02 LS6 valves. Whould there be a problem with the valvetrain geometry due to the '02 LS6 camshaft's smaller base circle? GM made up the smaller base circle difference by using longer valves.
Here is all the information on the '02 cam. In the thirteenth paragraph, the GM engineer doesn't seem to think it will work well. It starts out "The '01 base circle reduction did not require..." http://www.idavette.net/hib/02ls6/page2.htm

Patriot Performance assembled heads probably use shorter than the '02 LS6 valves, right? Could this valvetrain geometry situation be corrected by using a longer pushrod or a thinner head gasket?

I don't know the anwer to your question.

LPE has a very nice GT2-3 cam that is like an improved LS6 cam and offers the same or better driving characteristics and can easily pass smong. It has more intake, exhaust duration and lift. Should make better power than the LS6 and still act like an LS6 cam. There are other similar cams to consider.

I've got an LS6 cam, let me know how it goes with your head swap. I'm lookin to go with a 230/228 or so custom cam on XE-R lobes when I go bigger. But I would like to know what you find out with the valvetrain geometry of an LS1 with an LS6 cam.

why waste some nice ported stage 2 ls6 heads on an ls6 cam

At 10psi they should do pretty well. Less backpressure=less heat. I know you can push more air through the head with a larger camshaft, but I would like to keep the duration down for the street.
