I have had the Torquer 1 233 233 595 595 cam in my D/D for years. I also have Dart 205cc heads. I do my own tunning. It runs great. I also have a A4 with 3500 stall.

Go for it.

It is all in the tune.

Like everyone says. It's all in the tune.

If your in the New England area. go to NO ONE Except Don from Dez Racing. Also known as Slowhawk on here.

I had my car tuned from a sponsor of this forum and it drove worse until Don Fixed it.

Only other tip I have is that don't be afraid of it. I wish I'd gone with a bigger cam.

233/239 from TSP here and it drives fine no surging while accelerating, however, at 0% trottle below 1.5k or so it bucks a little, but its a pretty decent sized cam and is expected. On the highway in 6th gear it doesn't buck, either way I just keep it at around 1.7k rpm on the street!

I daily drove my 98 Z28 with G5X4, 4.10s, and Spec stage 3 with some other bolt ons from November 1st until mid April when I got my beater s10. Never once died out at a red light or any surging/bucking and drove almost stockish with much more power under any decent throttle. Had it tuned by a local buddy with hptuners (camsom) and he got it down pretty close after 2 or 3 tweaks.

I had a 224/224 581/581 112, I was DD it with no problems. a cam with under 230 duration and under 600lift will be plenty big for big power and give you good drivability with the AC.
Ive since switch to a LS6 cam to go with my blower. A good tuner will be the KEY to having it drive normal. Dont get caught up in the big cam thing or peak #s, guys here are making real big power with great power curve everywhere with decent sized cams espcially in a DD. Think what kind of power you want to make and give yourself room for at least another 50hp, bc youll want more after you do this. And just an idea: the 4.10s would be great below 450rwhp, more than that you be better off with 3.73s.
just my opinion, hope it helps you some.

good luck, let us know what you decided

My F14 highlift (232/234 on a 112) drives very nice. I've still got 3.42s (I'm not going to **** ANY money away on the 10 bolt besides fluids) and get the occasional surge down low if I don't let it warm up enough before I take off but it's very manageable.

I had a C5 with our stage 2 head/cam package and drove the car daily and on long trips with no issues whatsoever. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. Drivability was great and the power was excellent!

I'm running a T-rex cam with YT ultra, comp cam lifters, Billet flywheel, LS6 intake.....NO PROBLEMS at all with daily driving....bucks at LOW LOW rpms but other than that....perfect....but then again...it's in an RX-7 with 3.90's so I guess it's a little different for me.

You will not have any problems OP. There are people that DD much larger cams as you can see.

I DD my MS3 with 3.42's and I really don't have any problems. It bucks a little at very low rpm (-1200). It can be a little temper mental with the A/C on at low rpm's, but I only kick it on when I have my GF in the car so it doesn't bug me.

Just do it, and you wont regret it.

Just make sure you go to a good tuner. I took mine to somebody who was cheap and had a **** load of problems. The car wouldn't drive for ****. Then I took it to a good shop and I love driving my car again.
