Default hmm...Loud rattling

hmm...

so i had just left home a couple days ago headed to the store to grab some stuff....when i looked down and saw ZERO oil pressure! GAH!

so i drive back home and park it. pulled it apart. checked the pickup tube o-ring...half of it was gone. put it back together. still nothing. pulled it back apart. camshaft thrust plate gasket was blown out. replaced the plate with a new one. instant oil pressure! woo!

Now i've got this intermittent rattling noise! GAH! it's loud as **** too! also has an occasional squeal....

So i'm about to drop the oil pan to see if anything is bouncing around in it...dunno what it would be tho! gah!

well yeah. any ideas what it might be?

Rattling and squealing sounds like a spun bearing to me.

Very possible. A few seconds of oil starvation is all it takes to trash bearings.....

Hope it is something simple and GOOD LUCK

Well i pulled the motor today. started at 1:30pm had it out and COMPLETLEY disassembled by 11:30...nice.

Seems that number 1 spun a rod bearing. yay. the bearings were actually stuck on top of each other.

my oil looked like a metallic flake paint job...it was stupid rediculous. lol. several large shavings in the oil pan. miraculously it was only on number 1. however, it ground down the crank so far we think it won't be saveable. so we'll see what the machine shop says in the a.m.

so much for a cheap fix. damn.

Sorry man. At least you stopped running it before you trashed the block and heads. Good luck getting it back together.
