The way to 383!
My friend has a 01 ls1block that needs a hone,
And also he have mahle pistons and h-beam rods, my idea was to purchase those parts as a start,
My question is, what is the way to 383?
What length of rods?
What crank?
And is the block honed or bored? And if so, how much?
.030" over is not usually offered for an aluminum LS1. .030" over is more common for the 4" bore iron blocks.
Do you have an aluminum block or iron?
You need to find out exactly what size the pistons are and what crank and rods they were designed for. If the pistons are disigned to work with a 4" crank and 6.125" pistons then you will be good. If they were designed for a 3.622" stock crank you will need different ones.
The rods are correct size, i'll have to check on the pistons.

However, with all other things being equal, a 383 will not outpower a 346. It will make 30 to 40 ft-lbs more torque, but the 3.9" bore restriction is the problem. This is offset with a larger cam without the drivability penalty, but a 4.000"+ bore is a better choice to support higher flowing heads.
My advice is to go with as much bore and stroke as you can afford - you'll make more power everywhere.

But a.t.m something like that isn't a option, becuse of the crisis, but i am thinking of the 383 because all i have to import is the crank, and i want to go all forged,
So my thougths where that this could make the most of what i allready have in the car,
I got a 226/226cam now and a beefed up 346, shooting 150.
My thougths where to go 383 and much agressiver cam, and then add a second stage to the nitrous,
That should be a good step forward from what i got now, for little money
