Nowhere, the LS1 can only go around .005"-.007" over. Basically, just a clean-up hone.

Any of the sponsors here can set you up with the right pistons and provided the scratches aren't too deep, the hone job required to fit the new pistons should clean it right up.

If scratches are too deep to hone then there are 2 options:
1- Get nother block
2- Resleeve that block (expensive)

The biggest you can bore the stock ls1 block to is 3.910 bore. The stock bore is 3.898 so not much is being taken out. Just take it to a machine shop and ask them if they think it would clean it up boring it out to that size. It's cheap to bore a block.

BJ is right. Mine flipped a ring and scratched the cylinder wall about .003 deep according to our mic of it. so, I had to bore .010 to get the scratch out of it. This made for a 3.908 bore, which has multiple aftermarket options for pistons/rings.

Hopefully, the machine shop won't show a cut any deeper than .005. For future people who might search this thread, the above .010 does not apply to 98 blocks. They can not be bored anywhere near as much, as their sleeves are much thinner.
